Height-adjustable forming machine for elastomer bands: Optimising your production processes
We designed and manufactured a height-adjustable forming machine for elastomer bands for a major player in the low-carbon energy industry, specialising in the nuclear power and renewable sectors. The main function of this machine is to stretch, position, and place circular elastomer bands, called “jarretelles”, or covered bands, onto a rotating part known as a mandrel.
The process carried out by this machine involves stretching a flexible mould onto an expansion mandrel. The operator then places the mould under vacuum, fills it with the material or powder, and seals it with an O-ring, an end cap, and three latex bands to ensure a leak-tight seal.
Operation of the elastomer band forming machine
The elastomer band forming machine automatically shapes elastomer bands and covered bands with only minimal effort required by the operator. This machine’s main features are as follows:
- Controlled tension: The elastomer bands and covered bands are stretched by expanding six Teflon-coated fingers, operated by a gearmotor unit for precise control.
- Adjustable height: The machine can be adapted to existing workstations, with adjustable height for optimal positioning of the latex-covered bands.
- Mobile: This machine is fully mobile, offering maximum flexibility on the production site.
- Mechanical support: It also provides full mechanical support to ensure the concentric positioning of the mandrel and spreader fingers.
